CEOS.PP, founded in March 2017, resulted from the integration of three former research centres of Porto Accounting and Business School of IPP, where it is hosted. Thus, its strategic orientation is clearly in line with ISCAP/IPP’s strategy and mission: to contribute towards the improvement of companies’ performance; to participate in the technical and scientific training of high-quality human resources; and to meet the needs of society and the economy.
CEOS.PP’s mission is clearly identified as focusing on
- The promotion of inter and multidisciplinary research activities of R&D;
- Promoting highly specialized consultancy and innovative advanced training in the fields of: Management, Law, Communication, Education, Information Systems and Technologies;
- Actively contributing to the National and Regional development, as well as to the competitiveness of the Portuguese Scientific and Higher Education System.
According to its statutes, CEOS.PP has a Directive Board (DB), a Scientific Committee (SC), and a Coordinating Scientific Committee (CSC). There is also an External Advisory Board, made up of three international researchers of recognized merit. Its researchers (Integrated and Collaborators) are distributed among three research units (RU). Each unit has a Coordinator, elected by the RU members, which defines and manages the research activities according to the units’ Scientific Committee decisions, in direct articulation with the DB and the Coordinating Scientific Committee (this Committee comprises 15 members, representing the three RUs). The three Coordinators form the Directive Board and co-manage, with the elected Director, the center’s resources and infrastructures. The Director is also the head of the SC and CSC. The DB implements and manages CEOS.PP’s mission, strategy and research objectives, in straight articulation with the directives established by the CSC. The CSC meets regularly to accompany and validate the overall scientific work and evolution of the units. The DB acts as a coordinating management body that provides researchers with assistance to prepare and manage projects and fosters the levels of interdisciplinarity between the teams.
CEOS.PP RUs are:
- Research Unit on Law and Business Studies (UECEJ);
- Research Unit on Information Systems (UESI);
- Research Unit on Languages, Communication and Education (UELCE).
Each unit focuses on one broad area of knowledge within the multidisplinary scientific domains of CEOS.PP and develops different research lines, which, on the one hand, maintain a sustainable link to the research work that has been carried out until the creation of CEOS.PP and, on the other hand, created space for a clearer, more robust and more precise aggregation of the Integrated and Collaborating Researchers under specific research lines. Those research lines are:
UECEJ: Entrepreneurship and Innovation; Digital Strategies for Marketing and Communication; Human Resources: enhancing people, organisations and communities; Social Economy; Accountability and Reporting.
UESI: Information Systems and Technologies in Organizations; Enterprise, Social and Learning Analytics.
UELCE: Organizational and social development through innovation; Communication and Languages in Organizational Environments
