The adaptability, interoperability, accuracy and (inter)linguistic quality of the contents and communication processes are strategic and determinant factors for the success or failure of a given product or service and for the maintenance of its reputation and credibility in an increasingly internationalised, competitive and demanding market. Therefore, the linguistic and communicative dimensions are decisive factors for internationalization and success in the digital economy.
Within this framework, CLOE - Communication and Language for Organizational Environments - is a research line characterized by its broad scope: Language and Communication from various theoretical approaches and their application. Interdisciplinarity in CLOE covers seven main areas: business and technical communication, digital communication, digital rhetorics, organizational communication, public relations, terminology and translation studies.
Working closely with organizational environments, CLOE strives to identify and understand its language and communication issues. Its members carry out research in order to develop suitable and customized solutions and tools to optimize organizational language and communication abilities.
CLOE is embedded in UELCE – Unidade de Estudos em Línguas, Comunicação e Educação, one of the three research units of CEOS.PP and organizes regularly national and international conferences, workshops, training courses and hosts visiting fellows and master and PhD students who work in one of the core research areas.
