GEMMA (Erasmus Mundus)

Central European University

GEMMA is the first Erasmus +: Erasmus Mundus Master´s Degree in Women's and Gender Studies in Europe. It is a program of excellence supported by the European Commission, which has selected it as an Erasmus Mundus Master Course four consecutive times (in 2006, 2011, 2017, and 2019). In the latest round, announced in July 2019, GEMMA has been awarded 4 532 000 euros for the next five years.

National Organization for Women

The nationally recognized National Organization for Women (NOW) offers internships for students pursuing a Women’s Studies major or related field of study. Internships are focused on feminist political activism and are completely volunteer-based. Interested applicants may choose from a list of internship “teams” with which to work. This is a great opportunity for the student activist who is seeking to round out their Women’s Studies degree with real-life experience.

Frances Holland Black Endowed Fund in Women's Studies

At Appalachian State University, North Carolina, USA

This fund in Women's Studies provides funds for graduate and undergraduate women students to support internships which develop feminist perspectives. Each semester one student may receive up to $500.00 if they have been accepted into an internship program with relevance to GWS issues.

To apply for funds from the Gender, Women's, and Sexuality Program, you should submit to that office a letter requesting the funds during the semester prior to the internship by March 30. Avila University in Kansas offers one of the oldest Women’s Studies programs in the U.S as part of their Liberal Arts and Social Sciences department. Students only have the option to minor in WS, but the department offers a scholarship. Applicants must show academic excellence and serious interest in the Women’s Studies program. Margaret McNamara Memorial Fund

Canadian and Usa's Universitys

The Margaret McNamara Memorial Fund offers scholarships for women aged 25 or over who are studying in the US or Canada, but are not citizens of these countries, worth approximately US$12,000. Applicants should be able to demonstrate a commitment to improving the lives of women and children, and be from a country designated as a “lower or middle income developing member country” (full list here). The Fund also offers international scholarships for women worth US$4,000 for studies abroad in South Africa, and $3,000 for studies abroad in Latin America.

PEO International

Canadian and Usa's Universitys

Established in 1869, the US-based PEO International runs six projects dedicated to helping women further their education. The PEO International Peace Scholarship Fund provides international scholarships for women from outside of the US and Canada hoping to pursue graduate-level studies in one of those two countries. The PEO Program for Continuing Education provides need-based grants of up to US$3,000 for women in the US and Canada whose educational path has been interrupted for various reasons. And the PEO STAR Scholarship and PEO Scholar Awards provide scholarships for women applying to study at undergraduate and doctoral levels respectively.

The Department of Gender Studies at Central European University (CEU) attracts students from a range of disciplines in the social sciences and humanities, and focuses on integrative and comparative approaches to gender studies. Programs aim to critically examine past and present developments related to gender in culture and society. The curriculum in the department emphasizes interdisciplinary scholarship on gender and sexuality, particularly in areas such as nationalism, post/state socialism, queer theory, science studies, literature and popular culture, transnational connections, social movements, war and memory, and policy and global inequalities. CEU is committed to attracting talented students and scholars from around the world and grants a variety of merit-based scholarships, tuition awards and research grants available to students from any country. In 2014-2015, the University provided generous funding to 80% of master’s and 92% of doctoral students.

NWSA Graduate Scholarship Award

The NWSA will award $1,000 to a student who, in the coming fall, will be engaged in the research or writing stages of a Master’s Thesis or Ph.D. Dissertation in the interdisciplinary field of women’s studies. The research project must be on women and must enhance the NWSA mission. Applicants must be members of NWSA at the time of application.

AAUW Return to Learning Scholarships

The American Association of University Women (AAUW) advances equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy, and research. Members of AAUW are alumnae who unite to develop programs to enable college women to continue their own intellectual growth, to further the advancement of women, and to discharge the special responsibilities to society of those who have enjoyed the advantages of higher education. The Lombard Area Branch of AAUW is offering one "Return to Learning" scholarship to assist in completing an undergraduate or master's degree, or a certification program.

AAUW Lew Williams Scholarship and Leila Sulkes Scholarship

The Freehold Branch of AAUW will award two $2,000 scholarships - the Lew Williams Scholarship and the Leila Sulkes Scholarship - for the upcoming academic year. To be eligible for this award, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Female 25 years of age or older
- Resides in one of the following communities: Colts Neck, Englishtown, Farmingdale, Freehold Borough, Freehold Township, Howell, Manalapan, Marlboro, Morganville
- Enrolled in a Bachelors degree program having completed a minimum of 60 credit - OR - a Masters degree program having completed a minimum of six credits
- Maintained a minimum GPA of "B"
- Enrolled in college for the coming academic year
