Reverse Logistics in e-Commerce: challenges and solutions

E-commerce has grown quickly in recent years, becoming one of the main worldwise sales channels. With the increase in sales and constant new adherents to the practice of online shopping, a redoubled effort is needed to captivate and keep customers satisfied. It is, therefore, subliminal the existence of several factors that can influence the experience of the digital consumer. One of the most important factors is the possibility and ease of exchanging any item purchased digitally.
Reverse logistics is an increasingly important process for companies that want to ensure the sustainability of their operations and reduce their environmental impact. In the context of e-commerce, reverse logistics becomes even more relevant, since product returns are more frequent, stock control is more complex and customer satisfaction is directly linked to the success of the operation. The proper management of reverse logistics in e-commerce can bring many benefits, such as improving the customer experience, reducing the environmental impact, creating additional revenue and obtaining information to improve products and services. However, there are also challenges to be overcome, such as the complexity of managing returns, the difficulty of managing the stock of returned products and the high cost involved. This article explores the challenges and opportunities of reverse logistics in the context of e-commerce and how companies can solve them efficiently and effectively.
