The Centre for Intercultural Studies (CEI) of ISCAP-P.PORTO has become a member of the Time Machine project (https://www.timemachine.eu/).
The Time Machine aims to develop the “Big Data of the Past,” creating a digital information system that maps the social, cultural, and geographical evolution of Europe over time. This large-scale digitization and computing infrastructure enables Europe to transform its long history, as well as its multilingualism and multiculturalism, into a living social and economic resource.
The Time Machine project brings together more than 700 organizations from over 50 countries worldwide, including universities, research centers, cultural heritage institutions, civil society, GLAM, and private companies. These organizations support the project’s main scientific and technological challenges, provide cultural, historical, and geographical material and expertise, and contribute to the development of the Time Machine’s framework and services.
Portugal has only 14 member institutions in the Time Machine project, with CEI being the only representative from Greater Porto, alongside the Portuguese Catholic University. See: https://www.timemachine.eu/members/
