🎓 Marco Furtado’s Participation in ICOTTS’25 Highlights the Potential of Cultural Tourism on Gaming Platforms

Marco Furtado, Integrated Researcher at the Centre for Intercultural Studies (CEI) of ISCAP-P.Porto, participated in the 7th edition of the International Conference on Tourism, Technology & Systems (ICOTTS’25), held from November 6 to 8 at the Atlantic Technical University of Cape Verde.

As part of the panel dedicated to Cultural Tourism, he presented a paper entitled “Playing (Cultural) Tourism on Gaming Platforms – The Case of MSFS 2024,” which focused on the multiple ways of exploring and enhancing cultural heritage through video games.

In his presentation, the researcher raised pertinent questions about the use of video games for educational purposes and how the digital entertainment industry can serve as an asset for cultural tourism, fostering innovative interaction between technology, culture, and education.

Marco Furtado’s participation reinforces CEI’s commitment to interdisciplinary research and contemporary debate on new forms of cultural and touristic experiences mediated by technology.
