Carina Cerqueira at the II International Symposium on Digital Rhetoric

Carina Cerqueira, Integrated Researcher at the Centre for Intercultural Studies (CEI) of ISCAP–P.Porto, presented the original paper “Narratives as Cultural Mediation: Multimodality, Interculturality, and the Transformative Power of Digital Rhetoric” at the II International Symposium on Digital Rhetoric: Narratives and Discourse, held at the Universidad Europea de Madrid on 6 November 2025.

Her presentation explored how digital narratives and multimodal storytelling can foster intercultural understanding and reshape pedagogical practices in higher education. Drawing on her teaching experience at ISCAP, Carina Cerqueira highlighted how digital rhetoric can become a space for dialogue, empathy, and critical reflection — empowering students to act as intercultural communicators in global contexts.

This international symposium brought together scholars and educators from across Europe and Latin America to discuss the evolving intersections between rhetoric, discourse, and digital culture, emphasizing the growing relevance of digital communication in contemporary education, art, and cultural studies. The event fostered a valuable exchange of ideas that reinforces the importance of integrating culture, technology, and pedagogy in both academic and creative practices.

The best papers will be selected for publication in a special issue of the journal Comunicación y Medios (Q2), University of Chile, scheduled for 2027, co-edited by Jorge Jiménez (UEM) and Carlos Elías (UC3M).
