CEI at the RCH Seasonal School in Athens: The first major outcome of a 2026–2036 Partnership

The first major outcome of CEI’s participation in the European Partnership for Resilient Cultural Heritage (RCH) has arrived.

Ana Margarida Silva, researcher at the Centre for Intercultural Studies (CEI), has been selected among more than 480 applications from across Europe to participate in person, with full funding, in the first Seasonal School of the RCH Partnership — one of only 14 participants selected for the in-person programme.

Entitled “Heritage Adaptation to Climate Change”, the Seasonal School takes place from 5 to 15 October 2026 in Athens and online, bringing together researchers and professionals from different fields to examine how cultural heritage can respond to the challenges posed by climate and environmental change.

Across ten days, the programme combines theoretical sessions, workshops, study visits and project-based learning, with contributions from international experts in heritage management, climate science and conservation. The aim is not only to understand the impacts of climate change on heritage, but also to develop concrete strategies for adaptation and resilience.

The European Partnership for Resilient Cultural Heritage (RCH) is a Horizon Europe co-funded European Partnership bringing together more than 90 organisations from 30 countries. CEI represents UTPORTO within this partnership, contributing to a European research and innovation agenda focused on the future resilience of cultural heritage.

Ana Margarida Silva’s selection is therefore an important first result of UTPORTO’s participation in RCH through CEI and a promising beginning to a broader engagement with European research, training and capacity-building initiatives at the intersection of cultural heritage and climate change.
