CEI researcher in the “Scientist Returns to School” program – Native Scientists

On February 6, Ana Margarida Silva, researcher at the Center for Intercultural Studies (CEI) at ISCAP-P.Porto and alumna of the Master’s in Intercultural Studies for Business, participated in the program “The Scientist Returns to School,” promoted by Native Scientists, leading two workshops with elementary school classes at the Seia School Center.

The sessions brought scientific research closer to the school context, creating a space for sharing, dialogue, and mutual learning. During the workshops, the researcher presented her doctoral work on the identity and memory of Serra da Estrela – which she is developing at CEI and the University of Santiago de Compostela – showing how science can be brought closer to everyday life and highlighting the importance of knowing and valuing the places, nature, culture, people, and memories of the region.

This initiative reinforces the role of CEI and Native Scientists in promoting science within the community, bringing research, education, and society closer together, and awakening an interest in scientific knowledge from an early age.
