CEI researcher is a jury at the Festival CineEco

Ana Margarida Silva, researcher at the Center for Intercultural Studies and FCT PhD fellow in Cultural Studies: Memory, Identity, and Territory, was invited to join the Youth Jury of CineEco – Serra da Estrela International Environmental Film Festival, in the International Feature Film Competition category.

From October 10 to 18, the festival reaffirms its commitment to environmental causes and the territory, bringing together a selection of 81 films from 31 countries, with free admission and a parallel program that includes conferences, workshops, and exhibitions. This year, CineEco celebrates 30 years of environmental cinema, unveiling a new visual identity inspired by the spirit of the mountain – a symbol of resilience, protection, and a deep connection to nature.

Organized by the Municipality of Seia, with the support of the United Nations Environment Programme and DGArtes, CineEco is one of the most prestigious European festivals dedicated to environmental cinema, establishing itself as a true “mountain festival,” deeply rooted in the spirit of Serra da Estrela.
The CEI congratulates Ana Margarida Silva on this participation, which highlights her career and reinforces the role of research in Cultural Studies in promoting sustainability, art, and intercultural dialogue.
