Ricardo Campos is a lead researcher and member of the board of the Interdisciplinary Centre for Social Sciences of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (CICS.Nova) and guest lecturer in the Master’s Degree in Intercultural Relations (Universidade Aberta). He is a founding member and co-coordinator of the Luso-Brazilian Research Network on Arts and Urban Interventions (RAIU), he coordinated the projects Artcitizenship – Young people and the arts of citizenship: activism, participatory culture and creative practices (2019-2022), TransUrbArts – Emergent Urban Arts is Lisbon and São Paulo (2016-2020) both with financial support from FCT/MCTES. Over the years he has conducted research in several research centres, around the themes of urban youth cultures, urban art, digital media, visual anthropology and visual culture, having several book chapters and articles in national and international journals on these topics. He is the author of the works “Arte(s) Urbana(s)” (with Sílvia Câmara, publisher Húmus, 2020) “Introdução à cultura Visual. Theoretical and methodological approaches” (Mundos Sociais, 2013), “Why do we paint the city? An ethnographic approach to urban graffiti” (Fim de Século, 2010) and co-organiser of the books: “The art of building citizenship: youth, creative practices and activism”. (with Alix Sarrouy and José Simões, Tinta da China, 2022); “Exploring Ibero-American Youth Cultures in the 21st Century. Creativity, Resistance and Transgression in the City” (with Jordi Nofre, Palgrave Macmilan, 2021); “Political Graffiti in Critical Times: The Aesthetics of Street Politics”. (with A. Pavoni and Y. Zaimakis, Berghahn Books, 2021), Transglobal Sounds. Music, Younth and Migration, (with João Sardinha, Bloomsbury Academic Publishing, 2016), “Popular & Visual Culture: Design, Circulation and Consumption” (with Clara Sarmento, Cambridge Scholars Publishing, 2014) and “A City of Images” (with Andrea Brighenti and Luciano Spinelli, Mundos Sociais, 2011)”.
