International Conference Speculative Narratives Beyond Consensus Reality, CEI & CLLC–University of Aveiro

António Monteiro de Oliveira, integrated researcher at the Centre for Intercultural Studies (CEI) of ISCAP–P.PORTO, is organizing the International Conference Speculative Narratives Beyond Consensus Reality, in collaboration with our partners at the Centre for Languages, Literatures and Cultures (CLLC) of the University of Aveiro.

The International Conference Speculative Narratives Beyond Consensus Reality will take place on June 29–30 and July 1, 2026, at the Department of Languages and Cultures of the University of Aveiro.

At a time when the boundaries between the real and the imaginary are becoming increasingly permeable, this conference proposes an interdisciplinary reflection on the multiple dimensions of contemporary speculative fiction. Between wonder and horror, these narratives challenge the limits of “consensus reality” and open space for new ways of understanding the present and imagining possible futures.

Researchers, students, and creators interested in the intersection between critical thinking and speculative imagination are invited to submit proposals engaging with this constantly expanding field.
