On September 11–12, 2025, researcher Ana Margarida Silva (CEI – Centre for Intercultural Studies | Intercultural Studies for Business alumna | FCT PhD fellow) took part in the pan-European conference “Transdisciplinary and Anticipatory Dialogue for Climate Resilience. Envisioning Actionable Societal Change.”, held at the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Chania, in Crete 🇬🇷.
🔬 This international gathering brought together researchers, artists, and changemakers to explore transdisciplinary approaches to global challenges — from climate change to biodiversity loss and social inequalities — with a strong emphasis on the anticipatory capacity of the Social Sciences, Humanities, Arts, and Natural & Technological Sciences.
🎥 In her talk “Fostering Climate Resilience Through Culture: the case study of CineEco – International Environmental Film Festival of Serra da Estrela”, Ana Margarida examined how CineEco Festival fosters climate resilience through culture, raising environmental awareness and inspiring sustainable practices.
💚 Drawing on the concept of topophilia (Yi-Fu Tuan), she highlighted the importance of cultivating an emotional and conscious connection to natural and cultural landscapes — a key driver for meaningful action and change.
📢 A timely reminder that science and culture can transform our future.
