During the event, several lectures, presentations and discussions took place on the challenges and opportunities facing mountain regions in the Anthropocene, namely on landscapes, identity and development of border areas, the link between social and natural sciences in transformative paths, as well as the resilience of tourism and the opportunities and pitfalls of digitalization in mountain territories.
Together with Elena Todorova, from the Forest Research Institute – Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Sofia, Ana Margarida Silva presented the paper “Climate Change and Mediterranean Mountain livelihoods: insights from Multi-stakeholder Fuzzy Cognitive Mapping in Portuguese highlands”. The presentation was based on a study using the Serra da Estrela to map local stakeholders’ perceptions of climate change, its impacts and interdependencies. Interviews were conducted with multiple stakeholders using the Fuzzy Cognitive Mapping methodology, and then analyzed using centrality network metrics and scenario development.
