Ana Margarida Silva, investigadora do Centro de Estudos Interculturais (CEI) do ISCAP-P.PORTO e alumna do Mestrado em Estudos Interculturais para Negócios, coorganizou e participou na “YRC Summer School 2026: Career Development and Professional Pathways for Early-Career Researchers”, realizada no Politecnico di Torino, em Turim, Itália, entre os dias 15 e 17 de julho de 2026.
Ana Margarida Silva, researcher at the Center for Intercultural Studies (CEI) at ISCAP-P. PORTO and alumna of the Master’s in Intercultural Studies for Business, co-organized and participated in the SHiFT COST Action “YRC Summer School 2026: Career Development and Professional Pathways for Early-Career Researchers” held at Politecnico di Torino in Turin, Italy, from July 15 to 17, 2026.
Organized by the SHiFT Young Researchers and Career (YRC) network, the initiative aimed to support PhD candidates and early-career researchers in navigating increasingly complex and non-linear career paths, both within and beyond academia.
The Summer School focused on key questions related to researchers’ professional development, including how to translate academic knowledge and transferable skills into diverse career opportunities and how to transform uncertainty into informed career decision-making. The programme was structured around three interconnected sessions addressing career awareness, transferable skills, grant writing, networking strategies, job search approaches and long-term career planning. Participants engaged in interactive activities designed to strengthen their confidence, identify their skills and explore professional opportunities across academic, industry, NGO and policy sectors. Through a combination of reflective coaching tools, peer exchange and practical career development activities, the programme provided participants with strategies to better understand their professional identities and plan their future pathways.
