CEI researcher coordinates meeting of the COST Action MARGISTAR in Croatia

Between September 29 and October 1, CEI researcher Ana Margarida Silva, from ISCAP-P. PORTO and FCT PhD fellow in Cultural Studies, Ana Margarida Silva, was invited to participate in the “MARGISTAR extended core group meeting, MC7 and working group meetings” of Cost Action MARGISTAR – A European Forum for the Revitalisation of Marginalised Mountain Areas (CA21125), which took place in Gospić, Croatia.

Ana Margarida Silva is the coordinator of Working Group 2 “Knowledge synthesis and co-creation with stakeholders” of MARGISTAR, responsible for studying and evaluating current problems, viable future alternatives, and solutions for post-marginalized mountain areas.

During the meeting, the progress of the project was evaluated, future strategies were aligned, and collaboration between the different partners was promoted. Participants also made a field trip to the municipality of Karlobag, exploring Baške Oštarije, where they visited artisans from local communities and discovered the town of Karlobag through guided tours and meetings with the community, an experience that allowed them to understand the challenges of this coastal and mountainous region which, due to its isolation, has faced various processes of marginalization.

COST Action MARGISTAR stands out for its use of a multi/inter and transdisciplinary approach, thus supporting the European Union’s efforts towards more inclusive, competitive, and sustainable economies and societies
