CEI contributes with the chapter “O Centro de Estudos Interculturais (CEI) do Politécnico do Porto: Primeiro entre desiguais” [The Centre for Intercultural Studies of the Polythecnic of Porto: first among unequals] in the book Estudos Culturais em Portugal: Cartografias, desafios e possibilidades [Cultural Studies in Portugal: cartografias, challenges and possibilities], organized by Maria Manuel Baptista, Rui Grácio and Alexandre Almeida (Coimbra: Grácio Editor, 2023).
This newly published volume gathers the contributions of the participants in the 1st Congress of the National Network in Cultural Studies (RNEC), which took place on 26 and 27 May 2022 at the University of Aveiro, and was launched during the 2nd RNEC Congress – Digital Citizenship and Cultures of the Contemporary, held at the University of Algarve, on 27 and 28 April 2023. It should be noted that the CEI will host in June 2024, at ISCAP, the 3rd International Congress of RNEC, this time under the theme “Cultural Studies: Inter-Multi-Trans-Pan-Anti-In-Disciplinary Studies”.
“O Centro de Estudos Interculturais (CEI) do Politécnico do Porto: Primeiro entre desiguais” traces a diachronic and always critical perspective of the work developed by the Centre since its creation, highlighting the originality and audacity of what is the only representative of polytechnic higher education to integrate the founding nucleus of RNEC.
