The 3-year Strategic Partnership Legal Systems and Business Law in the EU: Translating and Interpreting in Diversity is rooted on the already existing cooperation among a consortium of seven higher education institutions acting as partners under the new scope of the Erasmus+ programme::

czech republic University of South Bohemia (CZ)
france University of South Brittany (FR)
spain University of Vigo (SP)
portugal Polytechnic Institute of Porto (PT)
romania Technical University of Civil Engineering of Bucharest (RO)
latvia Graduate School of Ventspils (LV)
slovakia University of Prešov (SK)

The partner institutions offer their students, through participation in the Strategic Partnership so established, an innovative formula of multinational and multidisciplinary educational activities, resolutely oriented to acquiring transversal language and entrepreneurial skills. The project meets the needs of young graduates who wish to enter the labour market with theoretical knowledge, but also with practical, cross-cultural and multilingual skills, thus enhancing their employability.

The project focuses especially on the dissemination of interdisciplinary approaches, the development of cross-cultural skills and the promotion of entrepreneurial spirit in participants. The project is intended for final year students of Bachelor degrees and requires student continuous work on specific projects and activities before participation in the intensive study program organized each year by one of the partner countries.

The project's overall goals:

  • Improve the quality and relevance of higher education in partner countries
  • Strengthen its multilingual and multidisciplinary character
  • Promote international cooperation of higher education institutions
  • Facilitate the development of innovative practices in higher education and their transfer through the creation of open educational resources
  • Improve the employability of students by strengthening their transversal skills

Each year, 35 students from 7 European countries, studying in different areas - foreign languages, translation and interpreting, law, economics - are selected to work in an international, multilingual environment, set up during an effective mobility, taking place in České Budějovice in 2016, in Ventspils in 2017, and in Lorient in 2018. This experience is an asset when they enter the labour market.

Expected outcomes:

Positive impacts will be observed on students who will be evaluated and graded, and on their teachers, but also on their institutions that can take future advantage of contacts made with companies in order to strengthen new relationships with the labour market. As for the companies – also beneficiaries of the Project -, they will be able to derive benefit from better trained graduates, will have access to new resources made available on a website created ad hoc and grouping, among other resources: video recordings of sessions, documents describing how to set up a company in the 7 countries, glossaries and the translations into the 7 languages of the Project of the documents most commonly used in businesses.

The activities of the consortium should also generate a number of tangible results with the aim of developing multidisciplinary training and a multilingual integrated curriculum in interpreting and translation, applied foreign languages, business administration and law, and an internet site for the use of professionals and of teachers from other higher education institutions.

  • Identify the different legal systems in Europe
  • Be familiar with the main principles of company law in the countries concerned
  • Have knowledge of the appropriate legal and commercial translation and interpreting techniques
  • Be able to work in a multilingual and multicultural environment
  • Master the techniques of information flow in a foreign language, mainly in French, but also in English
  • Be aware of the expectations of the business world in the different countries concerned
  • Educational materials accessible via the website and downloadable free of charge (reports and studies prepared by the educational team composed of professional experts and teachers, as well as presentations, glossaries and translations prepared by the students themselves).
  • Documents for professionals (forms describing the stages of the setting up of companies in the countries concerned, blank forms to be attached to the applications for registration in the appropriate registers, model documents to be used in the corresponding administrative procedures, glossaries, etc.)
  • Downloadable videos exhibiting different moments of the intensive programme

On this website, some of the materials created, considered as relevant educational and professional resources will be made freely available. The site will be the vehicle of dissemination of the project's results par excellence. It will be permanently updated and supplemented with additional means of dissemination, as described in the application.
