She has been teaching at the Technical University of Civil Engineering Bucharest since 2000; she is specialised in teaching French as a second language, French linguistics for the future translators and interpreters and French specialised translation. Since 2002 she is the administrator and a training manager of MMG International, a French-Romanian company specialised in evaluation, training, coaching and translation. Since 2013, she works as a PhD Assistant Professor in German and French Translation Studies at the Technical University of Civil Engineering Bucharest. Elena MAFTEI-GOLOPENȚIA is an associate professor with the Department of Foreign Languages and Communication of the Technical University of Civil Engineering Bucharest, Romania. She graduated from a postdoctoral research program in Communication Sciences in 2015 and she defended her PhD, also in Communication Sciences, in 2011 (The University of Bucharest, Faculty of Journalism and Communication Sciences). She is a graduate of the European Masters in Conference Interpreting from the University of Bucharest, Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literatures (2006). She earned a B.A. in Translation and Conference Interpreting (2005) and a B.A. in Public Administration (2006) from the University of Bucharest. She teaches Legal French, Introduction to Law, Conference Interpreting. Her main areas of interest are Translation and Interpretation Studies and Communication Sciences. She has also been a sworn translator since 2006 (French and English) working as a freelancer for national and international clients.

I am Alexandra Ioana ANDRIEȘ and I’m studying currently English and Spanish translation and interpretation at the Specialization Translation and Interpretation, the Technical University of Civil Engineering Bucharest. I’m also learning Portuguese as a third language. My experience of the Intensive Programme at the University of South Bohemia was a very exciting one. I was able to learn many things in so many different fields, I met so many different people and lived so many happy moments that yes, I can now say that all this exceeded my expectations. It was my first learning experience abroad and it helped me progress in my professional life, because I was in the situation of using my skills in order to cope with all the lectures and exercices we were supposed to do; I also had to go through a complex process of documentation for the presentations, and this way I learned a lot, including about the folklore of my country. I consider it a progress in my personal life, because of meeting many colleagues from different countries and cultures, which meant I’m now able to better understand people from these countries and I am more open to cross-cultural experiences. ”

My name is Bianca Firescu, I come from Romania, and I am a senior student at Department of Foreign Languages and Communication in Bucharest, Specialisation Translation and Interpretation. My experience at the Intensive Prorgramme hosted by the University of South Bohemia was a very pleasant and also an important step for my personal and educational development. This was my first Erasmus scholarship and this experience of “learn and travel” in the same time made me better understand what cultural diversity means, the main role and the importance of a specialist in foreign languages at European level and not only, and it also helped me improve my linguistically, practical and operational skills (through many presentations, workshops, team work and free speaking). The entire programme was very well organized with practical and creative courses and very interactive. I liked very much the idea of working in teams from different countries, so that we can share better the diverse educational and cultural experiences and the idea of bonding together. Regarding this topic the programme offered us, the students some dinners out with the whole group where we had fun and where we tasted traditional Czech food. Another “bonus” of this experience was the trip to Český Krumlov, an old city where the history is still alive. From my point of view, the experience to České Budějovice and to University of South Bohemia was beyond my expectations, I had a great time, I visited new places, I met people from more than seven countries and I improved my knowledge in the domain of translation and interpretation.

My name is Silviu Marius Duje. I am 22 years old and I am from Piteşti, Romania. I am a student in the third year at the Translation and Interpretation Specialisation at the Techical University of Civil Engineering Bucharest. I am studying English, French and Portuguese at this specialisation and the reason I have chosen this university is because of the fact that it offered me the opportunity to study translation and interpretation in the technical field. When I was offered the opportunity of participating in the Intensive Programme, I was hoping that I could improve my skills in legal translation, but the truth is, it was much more than that. Besides improving my knowledge about the activity as a freelance translator and interpreter in Romania and the activity of a limited liability company, and collaborating very well with my team mates in order to prepare the presentation, I spent two exciting weeks in České Budějovice, learning a lot of new things in the legal field (but not only), practising translation and interpretation and making new friends.

Hi! I am Emilia Mogoașe, I’m 22 and I come from Micești, Argeș county in Romania. I am a third-year student at the Specialization Translation and Interpretation, Technical University of Civil Engineering Bucharest and I’m studying translation and interpreting from English and from French. I’m taking Italian as a third language. Since the very moment I learned our university was going to select five students for the Intensive Programme I was very excited and eager to be a member of the team, not only because of my natural curiosity and desire to live new experiences, but also because my sister had taken part, as a student of our university, in a similar project hosted in 2013 by the University of South Bohemia. For me all this experience, the preparation in Bucharest and the two weeks spent in České Budějovice was very pleasant because it brought a significant improvement of my knowledge regarding legal translation and interpretation. I consider myself better at interpreting, thanks to the challenging practical activities included in the programme. I am glad I was able to communicate and collaborate with my colleagues from universities in different countries and I liked very much the city of České Budějovice and the city of Český Krumlov, where we could see a piece of Czech history. I enjoyed having fun with the other sutdents and I think that the presentations that every team made of their country were a very good idea, because I could learn new things about their culture.

My name is Victoria Panco and I’m from Glodeni, the Republic of Moldova.I am currently a student at the Technical University of Civil Engineering Bucharest; I’m majoring in English and minoring in French translation and interpretation. I’m learning Italian as a third foreign language. I am also bilingual, as I’ve been speaking both Romanian and Russian since my childhood. Regarding my participation at the Intensive Programme in České Budějovice, University of South Bohemia, it was a very fruitful and happy experience. I am used to multicultural experiences, because I’ve been spending my recent year in a different country than my native one and I was able to meet people from different countries. What I liked about the Intensive Programme is that is combined a truly multicultural environment, where I made many new friends and I was able to use all the foreign languages I know and where I was confronted with cultural differences, with a learning environment that improved my knowledge and my skills in translation, interpretation, law and economics.

Hello, my name is Irina Adriana IANCU and I am from Romania. I am a student at the Technical University of Civil Engineering of Bucharest. I am 22 years old, and I am in the last year of my bachelor studies. My specialization is translation and interpretation. I am studying English, German and Portuguese. The main domain that I am translating from is the technical one. Besides technical texts, user's guides, scientific papers and so on, I also study legal, economic and medical translation. Concerning interpretation, I study conference interpretation and simultaneous interpretation. During my studies I also followed a lecture about using CAT tools in order to make the translation process faster. I want to specialize in both translation and interpretation, and in the future, I am thinking about settling up my own company. Being a part of the Romanian team in the Ventspils Intensive Programme was a great experience for me. First of all, I loved working together with my Romanian colleagues in order to prepare the presentations and I am glad I had the opportunity to learn many new things about being a freelance tanslator and interpreter in Romania, as well as about setting up a company in my country. Then I learned so many things about other countries, their legal systems and their economic activities. Last but not least, it was great meeting colleagues from the other partner universities and sharing amazing moments with them, both during the practical activities in multinational teams, but also during the leisure hours.

My hobbies are running, reading classic and psychology books and making cakes. The Intensive Programme in Ventspils was clearly a once-in-a-lifetime experience for me. I could pracise the foreign languages I know, I used the knowledge I had in school in the practical activities and, above all, I met great people from different countries and I made new friends.

I am a social person, I like reading, and travelling is my passion. For me it was a pleasure to participate in the Ventspils Intensive Programme because I had the opportunity to practise my foreign languages abilities, meet so many people from different countries, make new friends and learn about other cultures. I would also like to mention that I learned a lot while working together with my Romanian colleagues in order to prepare the presentations. I think it was a good idea to prepare a presentation of Romania, because we had the opportunity to bring a little of our country and show it to our project partners.

I am Mădălina NICA, 22 years old. I study English, German and Spanish and I have chosen this path because it allows me to break the linguistic barriers between people, but also to expend my cultural knowledge by speaking and understanding its specificities because I have always thought that lanugage is the road map of a culture. I’m thankful to be able to take part in the Intensive Programme in Venstpils, because it gave me the opportunity to put into practice what I learned at school and have a beautiful cross-cultural experience I will never forget. I was proud that during the presentation of Romania I could talk about and show pictures from my native region, Oltenia. Also, I enjoyed preparing the presentations and working in multinational teams, because I was able to learn new things about being a freelance translator and interpreter, about a limited liability company as well as exchanging ideas and information with my foreign colleagues. .

My name is Alexandra Cambesteanu and I am in my final year at Translation and Interpretation at the Technical University of Civil Engineering in Bucharest, Romania. I am really passionate about travelling to new places, meeting new people and discovering new cultures, ways of thinking and living. Taking part in the European Project ”Systèmes juridiques et droit des entreprises dans l´UE : traduire et interpreter dans la diversité” was an enriching multicultural experience that I would love to repeat. We had the chance to spend 2 weeks in Lorient, France and experience the student life in a different place, far away from home. There were 7 different countries that were involved in this project, which made the project extremely interesting, as we had a lot of tasks that had to be done in multinational teams. Apart from studying about legal systems and being involved into role plays and other tasks that we had to do daily, we also managed to taste the local cuisine, look around and visit the main attraction of the city: their port, and on the weekends ,we all went and visited two cities that were near Lorient. I am deeply grateful that I was lucky enough to be chosen to take part into this amazingly organized project. I have so many funny memories and I have tied a lot of strong friendships. This project helped me develop my communication skills, my French but also helped me be more open minded and be a team player.

My name is Anamaria and I study Translation and Interpretation at the Technical University of Civil Engineering of Bucharest. In my spare time I enjoy reading and traveling, I am an open-minded person and I am very interested in discovering new cultures and making new friends. The European Project ”Systèmes juridiques et droit des entreprises dans l´UE : traduire et interpréter dans la diversité” has given me the chance to live and work in a multicultural environment, with students from seven countries from all across Europe. It was an unique experience, filled with many team and individual tasks , with educational training provided by the coordinating professors but also with moments of enjoyment and recreation. We learned about the legal systems from different countries, we had practical applications reagarding the field of translation and also we had some other more thought-provoking and spontaneous assignments such as interpretation role-plays. For me this project represented a great opportunity in my personal development and I am very glad that I had the chance to be part of it.

Je m’appelle Emanuela-Andreea BĂNICĂ et je suis étudiante en troisième année à l’Université Technique de Construction, Spécialisation Traduction et Interprétation. Cette expérience dans le programme international «Systèmes juridiques et droit des entreprises dans l’UE: Traduire et interpréter dans la diversité» à Lorient a été très intéressante pour moi. C’était une expérience à travers laquelle j'ai lié beaucoup de relations d’amitié avec des collègues d'autres pays, et avec mes quatre collègues que j'ai eu l'occasion de mieux connaître. Ce programme a été intensif, avec beaucoup d’activités, mais très bénéfique pour tous parce que j’ai eu l’occasion de pratiquer avec les autres collègues et les enseignants les langues étrangères que je connaissais, nous avons fait des jeux de rôles, des présentations en différentes langues. J’ai aussi participé aux cours de droit, nous avons travaillé en équipes multilingues et nous avons aussi fait de petites visites à Vannes et Carnac, au port de pêche de Lorient et à la mairie de Lorient. J’ai découvert d’autres cultures parce que nous avons eu des collègues de six autres pays européens, à savoir la France, l'Espagne, le Portugal, la République tchèque, la Slovaquie et la Lettonie et chaque équipe a présenté son pays. Je suis très contente de cette expérience et je pense que c'était un bon choix de participer à ce projet parce que cela m'a beaucoup aidé dans la relation avec les autres personnes de différentes cultures et pour faire face à différentes situations. Et même si cela n’a duré que deux semaines, j'ai eu beaucoup à apprendre.

Je m’appelle Denisa GÎRBEA-OPREA, je suis étudiante en troisième année à l'Université Technique de Constructions de Bucarest, Faculté d'Ingénierie en Langues Étrangères (FILS), Spécialisation Traduction et Interprétation, une option qui a suivi après avoir fini les études secondaires, filière linguistique intensive en français. Je suis intéressé par le domaine de la traduction et je souhaite continuer mes cours dans la même direction, celle des langues étrangères. Ce partenariat a été pour moi une expérience magnifique qui m’a permis d’apprendre beaucoup de choses sur les autres pays et cultures de l’Europe. J’ai eu la chance de pratiquer les langues que je apprends a l’université, surtout que dans la chambre j’ai habité avec quatre filles de différentes nationalités (Lettonie, Portugal, Espagne, République Tchèque). Nous avons travaillé dans un environnement multiculturel concernant le droit des sociétés, le droit du travail et les domaines de la traduction et de l’interprétation. C’est vrai que les journées ont été intenses, mais nous avons eu des activités diverses qui ne nous ont laissé le temps de nous ennuyer. À part les travaux enrichissants, il y a eu lieu beaucoup d’activités culturelles qui m’ont offert la possibilité de découvrir la région de Bretagne (la visite de Vannes et Carnac, du port de pêche de Keroman et de l’Hôtel de ville de Lorient). En plus, nous avons découvert d’autres cultures, car chaque pays a présenté son pays et a proposé une dégustation avec des spécialités, ce qui a été une autre occasion de partager. Pendant ces deux semaines ensemble, nous avons parlé, nous avons ri, chanté, dansé, mangé ensemble et aussi nous avons créé des liens. Enfin, cela a été pour moi une aventure unique, où j’ai découvert des nouvelles façons d’enseigner, j’ai créé un nouveau cercle d’amis, et en même temps j’ai acquis une expérience qui va m’être utile dans ma future carrière.

Je m’appelle Maria-Ionela HANDOLESCU, je suis étudiante en troisième année à la Faculté d’ingénierie en langues étrangères, spécialisation Traduction et interprétation, Université technique de constructions Bucarest. L’expérience d’un programme international est toujours bienvenue. Le programme international ”Systèmes juridiques et droit des entreprises dans l’UE : Traduire et interpréter dans la diversité” a représenté pour moi la possibilité de découvrir des nouvelles cultures, les spécificités juridiques des pays participants et la chance d’apprendre comment me repérer dans les différents systèmes juridiques dans les pays membres de l’Union Européenne. Le programme a eu pour le but principal les traductions des documents tenant du droit des entreprise, donc nous avons appris des techniques appropriées de traduction et interprétation dans ce domaine. Le principal défi a été de travailler dans des équipes multinationales, multilingues et multiculturelles, voilà pourquoi que je crois que ce programme développe l’adaptabilité interculturelle et les compétences de travail en équipe. Je suis très heureuse d’avoir eu l’occasion de voyager et vivre temporairement dans un pays étranger, de découvrir système éducatif différent de celui de Roumanie et de rencontrer des gens intéressants.
