Social entrepreneurship is a field of activity with unique characteristics and high potential for creating social value. Despite its growing recognition and popularity in recent years, it is not widely known among the general population or certain groups.
This research aims to understand Portuguese students' perceptions of the concept of social entrepreneurship by using a quantitative methodology based on a questionnaire survey of higher education students.
The results reveal an initial understanding of social entrepreneurship among students, as evidenced by their ability to identify areas of activity and objectives, as well as the role of innovation. However, a lack of knowledge regarding certain legal forms compatible with this type of initiative was observed, as well as variability in the responses. This points to the need to strengthen training and awareness on the topic of social entrepreneurship.
