2022 was a good year for the city of Porto. After receiving the award for Europe’s Leading City Destination 2022 and World’s Leading City Destination 2022 at the 29th edition of the World Travel Awards, Porto has received yet another distinction.
Last January, Porto was elected “City of the Year” at the annual Food and Travel Reader Awards 2022, held in London, voted by the readers of the international Food and Travel Magazine. The shortlist for this award had some of the most important cities in the world like Barcelona, Edinburgh, London, Melbourne, New York, Paris, Vancouver and Vienna.
This prestigious magazine celebrates the very best from the worlds of food, drink and travel across 23 categories, including “restaurant of the year”, “chef of the year”, “bar of the year”, “hotel of the year” or “city of the year”, and will feature every shortlisted contender in its current issue, which is its 25th anniversary edition.
As the years go by Porto has aged well and has become one of the top cities to be visited. Known as a vibrant and authentic city, Porto founds itself on every traveller’s mind as a city not to be missed and a gateway to discover Portugal.
As the whole world still recovers from covid and with an ongoing conflict happening in Europe, any good news is better news.
