Porto receives another noteworthy tourism award

There have been several prestigious titles given to Porto throughout the years. From “Best Under the radar Romantic Destination” by USA Today readers in 2015, to “Best European Destination” in 2012, 2014 and 2017 by the European Consumers Association.

The most recent was given during the 29th Edition of the World Travel Awards (WTA), where Porto was elected “Europe’s Leading City Destination 2022” and also “World’s Leading City Destination 2022”. A huge accomplishment for the city and also for Portugal, as the country won over a dozen awards.

The World Travel Awards are considered the “Tourism Oscars” and have the objective to recognize, reward and celebrate excellence across all sectors of the global travel and tourism industry.

Known for its history, gastronomy, culture, architecture, or narrowed cobbled streets, Porto will wonder you in many ways and leave its mark. As one of Europe’s oldest tourist destinations and classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, this modern, contemporary and authentic city will for sure make you return. A city painted alongside the banks of the Douro River, ending at the Atlantic Ocean, where you’ll find some of the cutest beaches.

You don’t want to miss the opportunity to discover the city by taking a cruise on the river or by strolling along the historic city centre, letting yourself be surprised from street to street.
There is no way you can leave Porto without having some Port Wine, visiting the wine cellars or eating some of the typical dishes like “Tripas à Moda do Porto” (tripe stew) or “Francesinha”.

Porto finds itself as the gateway to a wonderful vacation period and the perfect postcard to visit Portugal.
